    Field Trip–Dutch Gap, Richmond

    Join Wendy Guest on a field trip to Dutch Gap Conservation Area south of Richmond.  We will carpool from the Food Lion parking lot (570 Riverbend Dr, Charlottesville, VA 22911) to Dutch Gap, which is approximately 1.5 hours from Charlottesville but well worth the drive.  We will spend the first 1-2 hours birding at the various viewing platforms along the entrance road, enjoying close views of a wide variety of waterfowl species.  We will then take a 2-3 mile hike to visit some more ponds and overlook the James River.  We plan to get lunch at approximately noon.
