PVBC is excited again offer its “birding before work” series of bird walks this spring. This year we’re excited to offer many options, with PVBC members leading daily walks at various location from April 28 through May 9. Join any or all of these short, early morning walks at birding hotspots in and around town to welcome migrants to Charlottesville, before heading off to the rest of your day! Walks begin at 7 AM and end based on the leader’s schedule, typically by 8:30 AM, but may extend longer. Participants can stay as long as they’d like. Monday, Apr 28 – Mint Springs Park, Harriet Bell
Meet at the park’s upper parking lot.
Tuesday, Apr 29 – Ivy Creek Natural Area, Will Kurtz
Meet in the main parking area.
Wednesday, Apr 30 – Piedmont Virginia Community College, Callan Bentley
Meet in the southwest corner of the V. Earl Dickenson Theater parking lot.
Thursday, May 1 – Greenbrier Park, Leigh Surdukowski
Meet at the cul-de-sac at the end of Jamestown Drive.
Friday, May 2 – Foxhaven Farm, Julie Smith
Meet at the parking lot off Reservoir Road.
Monday, May 5 – Secluded Farm, Janet Paisley
Meet in the larger, northern parking lot for the Saunders-Monticello Trail.
Tuesday, May 6 – Observatory Hill (aka “O-Hill”), Myrlene Staten
Meet near UVA’s Leander McCormick Observatory by driving up McCormick or Edgemont Roads. There are several small parking lots and pull-offs along both roads.
Wednesday, May 7 – Riverview Park, JoAnn Dalley
Meet in the main parking area.
Thursday, May 8 – Azalea Park, Cory Swift
Meet towards the eastern end of the main parking lot.
Friday, May 9 – McIntire Park, Louis Sokolow
Meet in the skate park parking lot.
