Professors Barbara Ballentine and Jeremy Hyman will present a variety of topics relating to avian communication from bird song to colorful plumage, as highlighted in their recent book “Bird Talk” (Cornell University Press, 2021). They will also discuss current ornithological research projects they are conducting with graduate students at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC.
Barbara Ballentine is Associate Professor of Biology at WCU. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill, a master’s degree from Auburn University, and a Ph.D. from Duke University.
Jeremy Hyman is Professor of Biology at WCU. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
