A new birding season is about to begin. We are starting the year with all of the Club’s “jobs” filled except one: The Bird Seed Sale Chair. Maynard and I will fill that gap. We are thankful for those who filled Board positions last year and are continuing for another year:
- Kathy Sudduth, V.P.
- Peggy Cornett, Secretary
- Maynard Davis, Treasurer
- Gabriel Mapel, Field Trips
- Past President Lou Tanner, Speakers Chair
- Priscilla Kingston, Hospitality
- Guy and Susan Babineau, who share the Publicity Chair and Face Book Page Administrators
- Joanne Bricker in her new role as Club News Reporter
- Myrlene Staten as our new Membership Chair
We are looking forward to another successful Bird Seed Sale this year, the profits from which will fund our community outreach projects. We plan to sponsor the Bird Conservation Poster Contest for grades K through 8 just like last year. We will again have an Awards Reception to distribute major prizes for the winning students and winning classrooms. We will continue to support our partner organizations as in the past. Those partners include the Blue Ridge Young Birders Club, Ivy Creek Foundation, National Audubon, Rockfish Gap Hawk Watch, VSO and the VSO Kestrel Nestbox Project.
Again this year, we will look forward to an impressive selection of Field Trips, all arranged by our very talented Field Trips Chair, Gabriel Mapel. Please join in for the birding and excellent camaraderie. Bring family and non-members. All are welcome!
Let’s make it a great year.
