Key West is a lovely neighborhood off of Stoney Point Road. We have permission to bird their trail along the Rivanna River. It’s a mostly flat wooded trail that leads to a small sandy beach where we can spread out and make observations. This walk will be under a mile long. Besides birds, there are some beautiful wildflowers along the trail this time of year.
DIRECTIONS TO THE KEY WEST SWIM AND TENNIS CLUB.
- Off Stony Point Rd (Rte 20), turn into Key West Drive. If you are coming from Richmond Hwy, it will be a left turn a little less than two miles on Stony Pt Rd. If you are coming from Proffitt Road, you’ll make a right onto Key West Drive, after almost 3 miles.
- Follow Key West Drive for a little over .8 miles and make a hard left to stay on KWD. You will cross over a pond and spillway. (look for wood ducks in the pond.)
- Immediately after the spillway on the left is an unpaved road with a tall Key West Swim and Tennis Club sign. Follow that road to the end and please observe the 10 mph speed limit. The gate should be unlocked so we can park in the lot.
- Please observe the 25 MPH speed limit in the neighborhood. We have a lot of walkers and bikers.
