The author and illustrator of the new book, “On Lickinghole Creek” will share their stories of this birding haven in Crozet, Virginia, and discuss their adventures in self-publishing.
Dana Wheeles is a meditation teacher, artist, and bird nerd living in Crozet. She received an M.A. in Art History from UVa. in 2003 and stayed in the area after falling in love with the Virginia Piedmont. She has 2 other book projects, The Magical Journey, and Your Guide to the World’s Most Doofy Birds, and can be found selling her wares at many a local market. Albert Connette is a pastor and woodworker who is restoring an older home in Crozet, VA where he lives with his wife and stepchildren. He is a graduate of Davidson College (NC) and Union Presbyterian Seminary (VA). After catching the birding bug from his son in 2014 he began making regular visits to Lickinghole Creek and other birding hotspots near his home. In addition to birding he is an avid hiker and four season gardener.
