By Tracey Hopper
Club President, Myrlene Staton, opened the meeting promptly at 7:00 p.m.
Myrlene notified attendees that the Club needs a Communications Chair volunteer to serve on the Board. If anyone knows of a volunteer who might be willing to act as Communications Chair, please let Myrlene Staton know.
Myrlene also shared with meeting attendees that PVBC has been receiving lots of community requests for talks and walks about birding. Board members have been meeting these requests to date, but also will be seeking volunteers from PVBC members going forward.
Myrlene advised attendees of book discussion at JMRL on April 13th regarding Christian Cooper’s book, Better Living Through Birding.
Scott Connuck, Membership Chair, provided an update. The Club now has 197 members. Dues help fund meetings, educational programs and birding kits.
Alex Brubaker, Field Trip Chair, provided an update regarding upcoming field trips at the following locations: Panorama Farms, Penn Park and Morven Farm. Alex is looking for volunteers to lead Birding Before Work walks in early May. Dates and details about these field trips can be found on the PVBC website and FB page.
Joanna Vondrasek, Program Chair, introduced our speakers from the Piedmont Botanical Garden, Jill Trishman Marks and Bruce Gatling Austin. Ms. Marks is PBG’s Executive Director and Mr. Austin is a volunteer who presented about stream restoration efforts at PBG.
