Piedmont Virginia Bird Club Meeting Minutes

Club president, Guy Babineau, opened the Zoom meeting at 7:00 PM.
Membership: Scott reported that the club had 189 paid members as of December 31, 2022, which is slightly fewer than the same time last year. Scott also mentioned that some meetings in the coming year will be held in person at the Ivy Creek Education Building.
First Saturday Bird Walks Volunteers Needed. Leigh Surdukowski reported that the number of participants in the First Saturday Bird Walks has increased to the point that she is asking for volunteers to be primary lead, secondary lead or participant assistant to those on the walk who might be new to birding.
Volunteer opportunity: A local Girl Scout troop has requested that a club member give a presentation to about 50 scouts who are working on their birding badges. If interested contact Guy at [email protected]
Field Trips: Susan detailed upcoming events.
January 4: First Saturday Bird Walk at Ivy Creek.
January 28 – February 5: Winter Wildlife Festival, Virginia Beach. Non-club event and registration is required.
February 1: February PVBC meeting via Zoom
February 3 – February 5: Virginia Society of Ornithology trip to the Outer Banks. Registration required
February 4: First Saturday bird walk at Ivy Creek
Programs: Joanna introduced Albert Connette and Dana Wheeles who gave a joint presentation on their love of the wildlife, at Licking Hole Creek in Crozet.
Guy adjourned the meeting at 7:45.
