The Nature Conservancy and the greater Charlottesville community is coming together this spring to help care for, enjoy and celebrate our environment with several events. We need help and experts.
Specific experts that are needed include:
- Experienced bird to lead a bird walk
- Insect expert to lead a moth lighting pop-up
- Herpetology expert to lead a hike
- Plant biologist/flora identification expert to lead a hike
- Tree ID expert to lead a hike
Are you or someone else you know available and interested in leading any of the following?
- Host & lead a volunteer workday around Earth Day weekend & Family Volunteer Weekend (led by United Way of Charlottesville) starting April 22 and going until May 2nd
- Trail maintenance
- Invasive control workday
- Gardening events
- Trash cleanup
- Host & lead a nature-based activity for the public as part of City Nature Challenge (led by The Nature Conservancy) between Friday, April 29 and Monday, May 2
- Guided Hikes—bird walk, plant walk, geology hike, etc.
- Informative nature-related webinar or presentation—topics like climate change, stormwater runoff, habitat restoration, species of interest, invasives, etc.
- Other fun environmental events—do you have ideas?
- Join our citizen science efforts April 29-May 2 with City Nature Challenge
- Encourage your supporters to take photos of wild plants and animals through the free iNaturalist app
- Celebrate at Rivanna RiverFest (led by Rivanna Conservation Alliance) on May 1
- Do you have a nature-based activity or demonstration to share with the public?
- Are you interested in tabling at the celebration?
