The 2020 Charlottesville CBC took place on Sunday, December 20, operating under strict Covid19 guidellines. It was a pleasant day, cloudy in the morning with sunshine in the afternoon, minimal winds, and temperatures between low to mid thirties and 48 degrees F. Fifty-two participants went into the field (last year there were 61) in 22 parties. They recorded 78 species. (Last year 72 species were recorded.) Of these, four required rare bird submissions: Loggerhead Shrike (reported by Joe Coppock), Evening Grosbeak (Gerard Therrien), Dickcissel (Kieran O’Connor), Rufous Hummingbird (Drew Chaney). We also had historical highs for several species. I have indicated the numbers of individuals reported this year with those four species below.
