Dear MBC Membership,
It will not be a surprise to most of you that we are canceling our meetings, bird walks, and field trips at least through April. We will continue to assess the situation as it develops. This is consistent with guidance from the CDC for social distancing and also consistent with our partner organizations.
So no meeting, First Saturday Bird Walk or field trips. We will be offering an online “bird chat” call in at the normal meeting monthly time. People can join by computer, smartphone, or regular phone. We will share the meeting information ahead of the meeting. We are making excellent progress as a club and staying together as a group is important. Offering ways for people to meet together (virtually) also helps reduce a sense of social isolation. While we will not offer our guest speaker presentation, we will share the normal news at the start of the meeting then we will open it up for others to share what birds they are seeing. For example, today, Susan and I saw our first of the year Fox Sparrow digging in our garden. This is still a wonderful time of year to be outdoors and enjoying nature – while still meeting guidelines for social distancing.
We hope to resume normal operations as soon as it makes sense.
Sincerely,
Guy Babineau
MBC President
