The 2017 C’ville CBC took place Sunday, December 17. The weather was cooperative – a fair day with temperatures from 32 – 48 degrees F, and no wind to speak of. Forty-two people took part in 16 field parties and two feeder counts. Seventy-five species were reported with 3 rare bird reports: Ruddy Duck (Peter Mehring), Tundra Swan (Jim Nix), and remarkably three Clay-colored Sparrows found by Jim Childress. This was the first time in the history of our count, which goes back to 1924, that this species has been reported.
