The final meeting of MBC for the 2016-17 season was devoted to the judging of the Bird Photography Contest, co-sponsored by Monticello Bird Club (MBC) and Charlottesville Camera Club (CCC). Competition Judge Warren Standley of Bentonville VA, hosted the evening’s proceedings. First Judge Standley reviewed the contest parameters and explained his judging standards. He conveyed to the audience the inevitable subjectivity involved in the judging process and complemented all contest entrants regarding the high quality of the entries. After the introduction, the audience of MBC and CCC members was treated to a dazzling viewing of each entry (digital or print), as Judge Standley talked through his judging process and the scoring for each photo. Finally Judge Standley announced the winning photos in both Skill Levels (A – Advanced and B=Beginning/Intermediate) for each of the four contest Categories listed below.
Thanks to Judge Standley and all the photographers who entered the Bird Photography Contest, as well as Myrlene Staten and her organizing team of MBC and CCC folk who worked so hard to put our first photography contest together. And finally, a hearty congratulations to our contest winners! (Continue scrolling to view all the winning photos, and click on each photo to view a larger image.)
